“We couldn’t have picked a better photographer for our wedding than Tom. His images and photography are simply stunning! Thank you so much for helping make our day perfect! Jon & Charlee”
If you are considering Quantock Lakes as your wedding venue then let me congratulate you on considering an amazing venue. I love being a Quantock Lakes wedding photographer as there are so many stunning locations and photo opportunities that present themselves. With features such as the giant oak tree and rope swing, the spectacular sunsets and magical skies, the lakes and pontoon, the barns, the meadows and the famous Somerset Quantock hills as the perfect backdrop to your day. You really are spoilt for choice. I love capturing the preparations before the wedding in the wedding village and granary barn, bouncing between the couple with their closest friends and family. The ceremony barns and grounds are unique, offering couples a relaxed and fun feel to their celebrations. The staff at Quantock Lakes leave nothing to chance and take care of every detail so you can make the most of your day without worrying about anything.
I capture the day in a relaxed and natural style that produces beautiful informal and emotional images. We would plan out your day so we know what images you
I would love to talk to you more about why I love capturing weddings at Quantock Lakes, and learn about you as a couple, what you are looking for and how I can help you. So please send me an email via my contact page and let’s start talking things through .
Do you do video?
Yes, I can also capture your day in video as well as photos. Check out my page on Videography there are some great examples. It’s a brillaint addition to the still images.
Do you have a Drone?
Yes, I do, I am also a qualified pilot and certified by the Civil Aviation Authority including full insurance. Drones add some amazing perspective that makes the videos and images look incrediable.
These are some of my most loved locations and images from Quantock Lakes. I hope that you love them as much as I do.
THE PREP – I love capturing the buildup in the onsite accommodation which includes a bridal barn known as the Wagon House where the Bride can choose to get ready with her bridesmaids and flower girls – there’s even a hot tub here for the excitement of the night before and a log burner for the chilly nights. Capturing the details of the family and friends getting ready for the big day. The emotions are building and the day has just started.
THE CEREMONY – Here we are! The big event! In all of Quantock Lakes ceremony rooms, there is beautiful light. No need for lots of flash or dark images. I love them all and how best to finish but with a confetti line out in front the barn.
COUPLE SESSION 1 – I LOVE this part. This is when I get to take you around the grounds to capture some amazing images of you both. I encourage you at this point to slow down and take stock of becoming married! Practice some mindfulness and live in the moment. This is how I capture emotional and intimate photos whilst moving around different locations. Depending on the time of the year and light we could go around the meadow or the fields, we could walk around the lake or onto the pontoon. I always guide you to get the best photos possible.
THE WEDDING BREAKFAST – No matter which Barn you choose to have this in, at Quantock Lakes you will always have the perfect Wedding Breakfast. They all have spectacular views of the Somerset landscape for you and your guests. I love the magical views and it allows me to capture some stunning images of your guests during the speeches. For this, I like to keep low and close to the action, often on my knees in front the top table I can capture the emotions of those giving a speech and the reactions or all the guests. I love an emotional speech so you may see some watery eyes from behind the camera.
TIME FOR SOME FUN – After the wedding breakfast is a perfect time to play and relax. I relish these moments and capturing the fun and games as the guests unwind and soak up the views, explore the grounds and play a few games. This is when an experienced photographer that loves documentary photography like me comes into their own. I am always alert to what is about to happen, and ready to capture it. Wedding celebrations at Quantock Lakes are always lots of fun with so much inside and outside space to enjoy whatever the weather has in store. The owners like couples and their guests to have lots of fun and make their weddings their own.
COUPLE SESSION 2 – Timed around sunset, we would go for a walk. Just the three of us. I would lead you around. encouraging you to slow down, relax and take mental stock of this moment. I want you to cement this time in your long-term memory. Why? I want you to look at these images after I have captured them and to look back and remember the feelings of that time. Not remembering the feeling of awkwardness or unease in front of the lens. It’s my job not just to capture beautiful images but to also put you at ease and to have not just beautiful images but also beautiful memories. At Quantock Lakes, we can visit the romantic swing, walk in the long grass and watch the sunset over the lake. With them all so close to each other it takes no time to visit them all. New for 2019, there is now a jetty and lake pontoon making for even more magical photo opportunities. By night, the venue lights up with new feature lighting for 2019 and with the addition of Meadow Barn, you and your guests will be spoilt with panoramic views of the Quantock hills and countryside. There are bi-folding doors for the warmer months and four giant chandeliers and elegant drapes.
WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN – Fireworks, Sparklers and more! Just because there is no natural light does not mean the day is over. From the first dance to a pitch black shoot I love night images. When I am shooting a day I like to tell a story, using the images from start to finish I plan my first and last images. The last being a special night photo with Quantock Lakes light up or fireworks going off and reflected in the lake whilst you stand on the pontoon.
I really hope that you found this insight helpful and that you also love Quantock Lakes as much as I do. It is a photographers dream, I would love to chat with you about what I do and how I can tell your love story. So please send me a message and let’s start
