THE PROPOSAL:
We had always talked about going to America for our honeymoon, if we were ever to get married. On our 3rd anniversary in a little B&B in Wales we swapped presents. Tim gave me a travel guide to New York and had hollowed out the middle – hidden inside was an engagement ring. I was not very romantic – my first response was “I think I’m going to be sick!”.
OVERVIEW OF THE DAY:
It was a beautiful sunny winter’s day. I spent the morning with my bridesmaids in No. 38 – a gorgeous hotel overlooking Bristol Downs. Tim was in our flat with his groomsmen. It was all very relaxed. Ella and Henry from Atelier Hair Salon in Clifton came and did our hair and we drank Prosecco and ate bagels from my favourite cafe – Brew on Whiteladies Road. My brother delivered a present from Tim – a picture frame filled with cards I had given him over the years and a space for one final one saying “Today I marry my best friend”. Leigh Court was a beautiful venue for the whole day – a highlight was having the Bristol Male Voice Choir singing carols throughout the ceremony. After a delicious hog roast and cakes made by friends and family we danced our socks off to the Soul Miners – an amazing soul band from Cardiff. Tom set up a photo booth by the bar so we have some hilarious photos of guests messing around with ridiculous props. The whole day was so much fun and it went far too quickly!
THE DRESS
The Bride’s dress was from Charlie Brear of London, the Groom wore Hugo Boss and the Bridesmaids wore whatever they wanted!
WEDDING DECORATIONS
As it was Christmas time there were already Christmas trees and baubles decorating Leigh Court. We kept it simple with candles, shed-loads of glitter and a Christmas wish tree for guests to hang messages and advice for us on. Rachel Husband from The Rose Shed put together beautiful bouquets and small jars of flowers for the tables in pink, red and gold.
ONE PIECE OF ADVICE
We didn’t worry too much about the decorations, favours, or the trimmings and we didn’t need to. We just wanted a party with all our favourite people. The day was filled with laughing, crying, dancing and all our friends and family. Nothing else really matters.
ACCESSORIES
I wore sparkly shoes from Russell and Bromley and a pearly head piece made by Vivien J Bridal Accessories.
MEMORABLE MOMENT
During the processional the Choir sang me down the stairs but the song finished before I reached the end of the aisle. It could have been awkward but I started giggling and that set everyone else off and any nerves we both had just disappeared.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We know Tom was there because we have such wonderful photos but he was so discreet you would hardly know he was present. He understood completely our wish for an informal, laid-back wedding and photos to match. He came early and stayed late and was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. We have beautiful photos to remind us of a happy, fun-filled day and we would recommend Tom to anyone!
